Education is not just about reading books or passing exams—it’s about empowering young minds to dream, question, and lead. At OJPT Trust, we believe that every child, regardless of their background or geography, deserves the opportunity to access quality education and be inspired to reach their full potential.
Recently, our team organized a special Education Awareness Programme in Talcher, a coal-rich town in Odisha known for its industrious spirit and vibrant communities. The goal was simple yet profound: to ignite curiosity and spread awareness among school students about the value of education and how it can shape their future.
Connecting with the Students
The program was conducted in collaboration with local schools and supported by educators, volunteers, and community leaders. More than 200 students from government and private schools participated enthusiastically. Our sessions were interactive, filled with stories, real-life examples, fun activities, and engaging discussions.
We touched upon:
- The importance of regular schooling and reducing dropout rates
- The role of education in career building and personality development
- Awareness about digital literacy, scholarships, and government schemes
- The significance of gender equality and inclusive education
- Motivational talks from local achievers and OJPT Trust mentors
Inspiring Through Action
We also distributed educational kits including notebooks, pens, and informative leaflets to the students. What made the day even more impactful was the interactive Q&A session, where students shared their aspirations, challenges, and thoughts about their futures.
A few young girls expressed interest in becoming doctors and teachers, while boys talked about careers in engineering, sports, and even space science. These conversations were powerful reminders that talent and ambition thrive even in the most humble corners—what they need is support and encouragement.
Strengthening Community Involvement
OJPT Trust believes that education awareness must involve the entire ecosystem—teachers, parents, and local communities. Hence, we also held a brief orientation for guardians and educators on how to support children in their academic journeys, especially in rural and semi-urban areas like Talcher.
Looking Ahead
This initiative in Talcher is part of our ongoing mission to bridge the education gap in underserved regions of Odisha. We aim to conduct similar awareness drives across other districts, building a movement that champions learning, equity, and opportunity for all.
